About

Beyond Mountains is a group project that features our personal experiences from the 36th International Youth Meeting Dachau, which took place in Germany during the summer of 2018. The International Youth Meeting (IYM) was held in the Max Mannheimer House in Dachau, Germany. During the two weeks of the meeting, participants like us were able to make friends, experience Bavaria, and study the history of National Socialism. Since we enjoyed our stay, we hope to make this website for people to know more about IYM and for other participants to recall cherished moments during their stay.

Who we are

sophia

Marian Sophia Cruz is the creative mind behind the production of the IYM 2018 video and used her talents in Multimedia to effectively display her love for the IYM events and topics. She is a Bachelor of the Arts Multimedia Studies major in the University of the Philippines.  Furthermore, she is a dog-lover and is happily addicted to Belgian Waffles and Fries.

josh

Carl Joshua de Leon is a participant of the previous 35th IYM. He believes that history should be remembered and hopes more youth leaders will recall historical events to solve present social issues. Because of this, he planned to record his experience in the 36th IYM through media and blogs. He is also a Bachelor of the Arts Multimedia Studies major in the University of the Philippines.

Additionally, he believes he can sleep more if someone stops Mihajlo from playing hardcore Serbian Pop songs at 3 - 6AM.

From us:

Our deepest gratitude to IYMthe Teamers, and the Eyewitnesses for their patient hearts and their passion to guide the youth; you guys are amazing and we cannot express how much you've impacted us during our stay.

We would also like to thank the following: District Administrator of Dachau, Mr. Stefan Löwl;  Project Coordinator of International Youth Meeting Dachau, Dr. Robert Philippsberg; and Executive Director of Kreisjugendring Dachau, Mr. Ludwig Gasteiger. Many thanks to you and the organizations that granted us the scholarships and the opportunity to attend this year’s meeting.

To our friends: we poured our hearts into the making of this website and we hope you all enjoyed IYM as much as we did. It was heartbreaking for us to make the blogs, photos, and video for the website because of how much we miss you guys in IYM. However we're overjoyed over the realization that these bittersweet memories of ours and all that we've learned in IYM will keep on going forever.

Special thanks To
